When I moved into my house 3 years ago, a friend gave me two cuttings of a rambler rose. I literally just popped them in the ground and they have flourished, even after being munched by deer. My problem is, they are sort of awkwardly positioned and I am completely stuck on how to design this side of the house. The green meatball to the left is a boxwood. Behind it is a young lilac. The shepherd's crook on the left has the smaller rose tied to it, the one on the right has the larger rose. The large bush on the right is a rescued lilac. The roses sit about two feet further from the house than the lilacs. The eaves create a rain shadow about 2' from the base of the house. The site gets morning sun. Soil is clay and tends to be dry on that side of the house.
Any suggestions????? I would rather not move the large lilac, as I'm not sure it could handle the stress. The small lilac could be moved with little problem. I wouldn't mind moving the roses, but I'm not sure they would survive the stress, either. The shepherd's crooks are just stuck there, they can certainly be disposed of. If the roses stay, they would need something to climb, but I can't put them against the house because it is too dry. Is there some way I can pull these various mismatched elements together?
Thanks
