but its something we italians have beern making for a snack for a long time.
cover an oven rack with foil and put on broil
take a nice thick loaf of italian bread and slice it lengthwise.
brush your best olive oil on each side and then take a fork and press it into the bread. add some salt and pepper then place in oven, sliced side up and broil until the bread is nice and brown.
the more oil you brush on the better it taste.
