Orangeville, ON(Zone 5a)

I love to see what everyone has blooming this early so thought I'd post some too. This one is of my leopard's bane and bleeding heart.

Lovely photos of your garden! What is the groundcover called in the third photo? Very nice with the red tulips!

HI Erynne - that "lovely" ground cover certainly is lovely as long as you keep it out of beds that have other perennials in them. It is very aggressive! It has several names - Snow on the Mountain and Gout Weed are the ones I most commonly hear. If you get it use it "only" where you don't mind it spreading.

Thanks Judy. Aggressive or not, it is still quite pretty how you have it there.

Lovely display....my Dicentra and Doronicum are just starting to bud...my garden will not look that lush until mid June!

thanks for the positive comments Lilypon, Todd & Erynne - I appreciate it - I just love my gardens. When I bought this little place 17 years ago or so there was not even one single plant here. Lots of nice old trees but no plants or landscaping. The lot is 1/3 of an acre so I have a great backyard; it's a very rare lot size for living "in town" here. Over the years I just kept making more beds and more beds .. I worked from the house out .... I so remember those hard days of digging up grass . . . .now I have my own park. There's alot of duplication because to make the beds I would split and split and split what I already had , I then had no money to buy new plants .... but I'm pleased with the result. Just wish I had more time to work in it and make it better - It is not uncommon for me to work 60 hour weeks (I sell real estate) so my time in the garden is really treasured. I love sharing photos - It gives us all great ideas.
Thanks
Judy

Very nice gliimpse of your garden, Judy. Wish you would stop by more often.

I just bought myself a Leopard's bane. Always looked at them and left them behind, thinking, just another yellow daisy. Now I'm glad I bought it. Hope mine gets as nice as yours.

Sometimes, duplication means continuity, tying it all together. I can't wait for more pics, please.

I think you'll be very pleased with the leopard's bane - I've moved it all over the yard and it seems to do well everywhere (though I haven't tried it in deep shade yet). Put it near the edge of your beds because once you cut the flowers off the leaves mound up very nicely but are short

Very nice Judy. I really like the tulip/groundcover combo in the third photo.

thought I would get more photos by now but it is sooooo cold and windy here ,,, definitely not the May 24 weekend that we all look forward to and make the garden centres happy

(Zone 6a)

It's also freezing here. Please no frost........please no frost........please no frost.......I don't want to go out in the morning to see half my stuff wilted over.

No frost last night..I think we are in the clear now...
I brought all my tender plants and annuals inside the last two nights.

I was at a garden centre on Sunday..very few people there..usually I stay away on the long weekend because of the crowds..I'll bet they are hurting..but now look out..this weekend will be good for them.

SQUIRRELS BRING YOU THINGS??? what karma; they only steal and eat my tulip bulbs

(Zone 6a)

We had no frost either and I also think we're in the clear. I just planted out some of the plants I grew this spring :) Such fun!
