I bought bean plants from the nursery and was wondering if I still need an innoculant around the plants; and if so, where can I get this? Is it too late?
The bush beans are about 6 in tall.
The poles are just popping up that were direct seeded. My soil is mostly compost (my own) and garden is a raised bed.

Lehua...... I've grown beans for many years & I never once used an innoculant. They did fine for me. Don't worry....

I agree with Larry, I have never used an innoculant, and last year had kentucky wonder pole beans for months.

I thought that the innoculant aids in promoting nitrogen production that benefits your soil, not particularly your current plants. I've never used innoculant before this year,when I planted some beds in field peas as a green manure crop and wished to get as much N into the soil for the heavy feeders that follow.

i have used inoculant for coating seeds, never heard of it used in putting out plants. it is supposed to boost the nitrogen fixing bacteria.
I start all of my beans from seed, and have never used or needed an innoculant.
