Care Info for Sticky

Silsbee, TX(Zone 9a)

We would like to start a sticky for this forum listing some good information about Bromes. If you have any sites you think should be in this sticky please list them here or d-mail them to me.

If you have had success w/ keeping Bromes please share your care methods. There are a lot of folks w/ questions and it would be great if they had one place to refer to for care.

Please be specific as to what type of Brome you have had success with when sending in your methods. If you don't know what type of Brome you have maybe we can ID it together (this isn't an offer to ID every Brome out there! Just for good care methods right now, sorry.).

Please post here or d-mail me any info you have, it's much appreciated!

Some sites I have used for care myself are these:

There are others I will list when I have more time. I'd love to see some sites where others go, or just read your care tips.

Thanks so much for posting that Giancarlo! I've seen a lot of your pics here and they are just gorgeous!!

What info would you like to see in a sticky for this forum? I'm just trying to gather info that would be helpful to everyone...newbies and veterans alike. Any suggestions would be very helpful and are more than welcome.

I'm not sure why you're link isn't clickable, but I'm pretty sure this is the same site...I hope it is!

Heather,
That site is correct, I will like to see more people from up north
interested in Broms.
They are easy care, resist cold weather nicely, reproduce fast,
excellent for landscape work because they are very showy and
some of their blooms are espectacular , specially the Aechmeas.
They travel great so they are good for trades.
Lets make a BROMELIAD campaign.

A Bromeliad campaign? What do you have in mind? =^)

I just discovered Bromes recently, and fell in love w/ them. They are hard to find in my area. If I can find them they carry a hefty price...$20-40 usually. That's high for me. Mostly I buy smaller plants and enjoy watching them grow...or even nursing them back to health. That allows me a greater # of plants for my money.

I have purchased a very nice Brome at Lowe's. I think I must have gotten it the day it came in to the store. I've removed one pup so far. I've ordered one Crypt over the web and I've had very generous folks on DG trade w/ me and send me a bunch of Bromes. I'm very excited to begin my journey into my new collection...and I know it will be an addiction that lasts a lifetime!!

I will grow my Bromes in pots in my zone. Outside during the warmer months, indoors as houseplants during the cold months. I do find this ideal for me. Most folks in my zone go thru gardening withdrawal during the winter. My Bromes and AVs will help me from going crazy on those long, gray winter days!

But, enough about me, how about you? =^)
