Reeves Spirea, Double Bridal Wreath Spiraea (Spiraea cantoniensis)

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 9a)

ladyanne - This is a beautiful plant and I would like to know what it is, but it isn't a Reeve's Spirea. It looks so familiar to me, but I can't quite pull it in.... Maybe the folks over on Plant ID could help.

Ooops, they are the ones that identified it years ago. lol....back to the drawing board.

Oops is right! I'll look around and see what I can find too. Are the leaves succulent? Is it fragrant? When does it bloom? Any obvious fruit or berries after?

Definitely not succulent, can't remember berries (its on the property next door) spring bloom and can't recall any fragrance. Its sits in the full sun, quite old, and easily 6 feet by five feet tall. Since it has no watering system, I would also guess it is heat or drought tolerant. I was told by a local plant expert it was a bridal wreath, are there two plants of the same name?

Spireae are in the rose family, and the flower looks like it is in that family, too. But the leaves are very different than spireae leaves. Guess I'll go googling.

There is another plant with that name, but it is completely different. There may be more. Sigh.

Does that local plant expert have a botanical name for it?
