Hello everybody. I"m moving soon from Arizona to Idaho.

Pocatello, ID(Zone 6a)

Anyone know what zone Idaho is? I am quite sure my Arizona garden won't flourish in Idaho. Any help out there for new Idahowans?

Crossville, TN

I don't know what zone you'll be in...but I hope you find what you wish for...I would miss Arizona if I moved...but I like it here in Southern Arizona better than the Phoenix area...too much traffic for this old gal! Good luck. Jo

Forget everything you ever knew. You are moving to a new world. Good thing you joined DG! Welcome from Texas!

Welcome to DG Bagnana. I live in Southwestern Idaho and here it is a zone 6. We get cold in the winter but not as bad as I had thought it would be here when we moved into the area. It is very dry and windy so plants have a hard time keeping hydrated and our summers can be hot too but not as hot as Arizona summers.

If you have specific questions to ask I will be glad to try answering them for you. We have lived in this area since 1988 so I am pretty well versed in it. At least I can pretend to be. lol

What area will you be settling in?

Thanks to each of you who responded. Jo, I will miss Arizona, as I love the heat. And my meadow garden. My old bones seem to cry out for it. The heat. that is. As for the cold of Idaho, Hope, guess I'll have to invest in some wool long johns. And I laugh at "forget everything I ever knew" - that seems to be happening more and more. Lani, if you garden at all, you will help. I am going to Pocatello, and will have to see where that is in relation to Payette. When our house here sells, I will then have specific questions for a new yard - new to me. So again, thank you all. I will start researching zone 6 plants. Nan

We are across the state from Pocatello about a half mile as the crow flies from the Oregon border. You can contact me through the Dmail system at Daves anytime and I will try to help you with our unique climate. I think Pocatello though is going to be a zone 5 or possibly colder and the plants you buy should be drought tolerant if at all possible and not a hosta collector like I am where they like moist soils. lol
