Mystery plant????

In the late summer I was walking my country drive and spotted a mysterious plant.It was very pretty resembling Liatris(spicata)except it's about 5 foot tall I pulled it up and it's in fact a bulb.When it died back I collected bookoo's of seeds anyone who'd like a mystery e- mail me for address exchange and I'll share with SASE!P.S.Anyone who maybe knows what type wildflower this is respond.

Was it purple or white? I think it is a type of liatris. I've also seen it as blazing star if it's what I think it is. I may have seen another name, but can't remember it right off hand.

Is the seed black with some thistle like fluff attached? If so, this is a liatris. They have a bulb also.
