I am really new to epis (mostly I grow Schlums and Rhips)- have some cuttings George sent me last fall which are rooting nicely - thank you George - but have been following along here and on the epiforum too.
Anyway here epis are sure a rarity and I have never seen them in any of the garden centers - until last week. Lilypon was visiting and we were touring all the garden centers and in one of them we were back in a staff only area when I beheld this vision hanging from the roof of the greenhouse.(see below). Turned out they have another almost as big (next post) in the next greenhouse. I have been to this place several times and never noticed them or perhaps just didnt realize what they were. Unfortunately they were almost at the end of their flowering period. They also had some small ones rooted off the giants but I decided to forgo buying one and wait until my little ones come along.
Giant epis?
Great pics of beautiful plants......and the perfect location for all around light and no bumping by passing gardeners or dogs of pesky blue jays! Bet they are awesome when fully loaded with blooms. Thanks for sharing your pics!
Next year I will call them in March and see what state the plants are and try to get pics in full bloom.
WOW! Those are HUUUUUUGE! I bet they were a site to behold when in full bloom. Wonder how many years they've been growing it?
Those are absolutely incredible!!!
