first hummingbird

Piqua, OH(Zone 6a)

My DH and I were on the back porch and saw the first hummer of the season. I will try to get a picture as soon as I can, but it is very cold and rainy! It was great to see him at the feeder that I had just filled the other day and looking like he was really enjoying it.

Congratulations on your first hummingbird. It is always such a thrill to see the first one of the season. Heck, it is a thrill all summer to see them.

Here is the best picture that we have ever taken of a hummer in our backyard. My DH took it about a half hour ago at the Humzinger. I was so thrilled with the quality of the pic and how close Steve got to get to the hummer. Buckimom

Oh what a cutie. Your husband did a good job on getting a shot. We also feed the little guys and my family, from my 17 month old Grandaughter, to my husband and 9 kids, and 3 other grandchildren enjoy watching them.

Dear Candy,
Good morning,I see you are an early riser also. We have had two hummers fighting over this feeder. They have been drinking up a storm! LOL

Good Morning to you too. Yep, early riser. For years I got up at 5am, and love it. I went full time evenings, I dont get to bed until midnight, and you know what....I still get up early. Thank goodness for naps, or I would be exhausted come 11:30pm when I get out of work.

I have a hummingbird feeder on both front and back porch. It seems to keep peace in the family. But the other day, I had 2 in the front and when the one went near the fuchia, the other one came and chased it away. It is funny as little as they are, how bold they are.
