Last year at the round up in Victoria, someone sent some little round cactus starts, I think it might have been Chilko (Rosemary). I have never been too fond of cactus but anyway I stuck mine in a pot and left it on a windowsill, watered it now and then. It started to sprout some fuzzy things about a month ago and this morning I had a look and - wow ! I know MG99 (Linda) had one flower a while ago - has anyone else been lucky?
Heather
(PS Thank you, Chilko !)
Cactus starts
I think Rosemary said hers was a pink one. At least the one she sent me was supposed to be, but it hasn't bloomed yet.
Forgot to say - WOW! good for you.

Amazing! Good job!
Do you mind if I save that first photo?
Steve
Don't mind at all, Steve !
Heather
Thanks Heather :)
Beautiful job, Steve !
Steve, you are too clever! I wish I knew how to do things like that. Still living in the 18th. century, I think. (Sometimes I like it that way, too)
Heather, that is the wonderful thing about cacti. They sit there looking plain and ugly, the one day they show you such beauty with their flowers. I have never seen a bad cactus bloom. They all seem to be wonderful. BAM
If you have any photos of your garden like the other ones, I'd be happy to 'shop them up'. Just post the photo or D-mail it.
Steve
Thank you very much, Steve - I am now looking at everything with a "new eye" ! I love how this post has went from a cactus question to a lovely photo that I am going to frame and hang on my wall !
Heather
Are you really going to hang it on your wall? Which one?
If you want to see anymore I have a couple more that I've done with plants.
Steve
That Echinopsis is fantastic...I saw a similar one in the wilds of NW Argentina last fall.
Steve, I have to learn that photoshop technique..I love what you did for the Echinopsis.
Yes, I would love to have some "original" floral prints. Did you ever think of that as a sideline? Think about it. BAM
BAM - I never even thought of that, I like to do it more as a hobby. I really should print some off as photo's though. So if you have a photo or 2 just d-mail them to me :)
Todd - Thanks. I don't think I saved the Echinopsis photo in photoshop format though, so I'm not sure what I had the photo set on to get it to look like that. Do you have photoshop?
Steve
absolutely stunning!
Yes, like Linda said, absolutely stunning!!!
Steve
Todd, that is beautiful. Both the bloom, and the effect in the photo. Well done. BAM
Wonderful eye-candy (both the subject and the pics :).
Wow, Heather!!! You're good!!! What did you do to get it to bloom! I'm jealous....lol!!
:) Donna
I didn't do anything special, PerennialGirl, I think it grew just to spite me as it knew I wasn't terribly interested in cacti ! I left it on a SW facing window all year and watered it now and then and fed it when I saw the "fuzzy" things.
LOL !
Heather
Well you did the right thing than. It luvs you!!
:) Donna
