Shirley, do u not like Easter lilies? They are hardy bulbs. I give one to MIL every year (except when I forget ha ha) and when they are done blooming I plant them outside. Usually I wait till it warms up a bit. I now have many in my border. They are multiplying! Probably will be over a dozen stems this year - more are still coming up!
Hi kooger Yes I do but I was lucky enough to accumulate a dozen pots and thought Id share them around some. Will plant some for myself and hope they survive our winters. Thought id plant them a little deeper????Shirley
I have mine on the southeast corner of the house and they do well there. Planting them a bit deeper is a good idea. I plant lilies somewhere in the 6-8 inch range. How nice that you had so many and can share. They are lovely blooming in group!
What area of Iowa are you in there// My husband and I pent a summer in Charles City about 25 years ago . He was building a pipeline there.
Charles City is NE IA and we are in NW IA. We drove thru Charles City many times with the truck - weekly or twice weekly for DH. Usually once a month or less for me. Always remembered the Hart Parr tractor on display. Now it's got a museum built around it. It's an absolutely HUGE tractor!
I remember the plant but it was John Deere??? I loved the people there-so friendly and nice.
No, it wasn't a plant, altho there are a number of John Deere plants around - Waterloo, Davenport, etc. It is a museum in the middle of town and the Hart Parr sat at the intersection of Hwy 18 and 218 (I think). I always felt sorry for it sitting out in the elements but they have how built a building around it. :)
Yes Now I know what you mean. I weas interested in Charles City's rebuilding after their devastating tornadoes years ago. They took space and made a beautiful downtown out of it.
About when did they get hit? I don't remember hearing abt that. Maybe it was before my IA years. pre-1975?
Yes We were there about 1976 and it had happened several years before that. They did a very good job of reconstruction
