Joke>? Me joke? Oh god..I love to laugh but can't pull off a good joke to save my soul :)

Missouri City, TX(Zone 9a)

Allison, thank you for suggesting that I should get a prize, it's just too bad that Lorry didn't pick up on that and offer to send me a baby! LOL.
I just want to see a picture, that's all I ask. No matter where I looked I couldn't find a photo.

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

I don't have a photo of it ( I wish I did) I just have a couple little plantlets that I raised from leaf. So I will just have to wait until they grow up and see what they give me :)

I would love to send you a prize April (laugh) actually promised to send you a bromeliad :) and I am sure I could dig up a plantlet or two.

What is it you are looking for?

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Yippee a prize for April !

Missouri City, TX(Zone 9a)

Oh just any ol' thing.

I was kidding, but no matter what you send I will have to answer "Well I was hoping for a Longines (sp)'' or the newer version, "I was hoping for a Lexus." If you have to ask what a Longines is/was then I am too old.

How many of us are raising vintage AVs? I was just wondering about starting up a sort of vintage bank...I know that if you are looking for rare and vintage AVs you can contact AVSA and they have a list of members who are growing/have rare and vintage; I was thinking that maybe the DG AV forum should have their own "bank"- anybody interested?

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

Sorry but I do need to ask what a Longines is...Never heard of it :)

I have some vintage AVs....And I am sure I have leaves of some vintage violets up :)

Missouri City, TX(Zone 9a)

Oh my god I am soooo old.

It was a watch company. They made dressy expensive watches, not on the same level as many companies do now, but they were the kind a woman might wear to a play, opera, ballet or something special. Mind you, I was a child, a mere child, when these commercials were on TV...and yeah we did have color TV then, LOL.

What made me think of the vintage AVs was that somebody had blue boy leaves...one of the usual, Rainbow or somebody, and I was thinking that might be a project if you belonged to an AV club...and ok, sort of we do belong to a club, we just don't meet in person.

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

I have blue boy :)

I got it from Davesviolets :)

And I would be happy to work on a bank and swap out vintage violets :)

LoL we.. April..You are not old at all :)

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

I have Blue Boy ! I got it from Violet Gallery :))
April did I send you any Vintage ? I try sending everyone a vintage or two :))
It's good and important to progate Vintage plants and share them !

Missouri City, TX(Zone 9a)

Yes Allsion I believe that you did and also one or two rare- I can't recall off the top of my head but I know that one was rare was Russian... I will have to look.
When you get a chance can you post a picture of blue boy...sometimes the pictures on the webs are awful!

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

The plant was good size when I sent it to April back End Jan. I know not to ask if it's blooming lol but how's it doing April ? Maybe put leaves down of all your plants and grow babies that will be use to your enviroment !

Missouri City, TX(Zone 9a)

Wrangler's Stampede leaves are making little babies- the 1st ones I took off too soon. :-((
The King is doing well but no blooms, lots of leaves...I think, will have to check.
Paumanok I will have to check on...I know it's there but can't recall off hand.
Picasso did not do so well, don't know what I did to it, so I have a leaf down and I hope that it's doing ok;
Irish Angel I have a bad feeling about but will look and also Elle Gardner, that one I know that I put several leaves down and they didn't do well and the plant that you sent so healthy, I think I killed it. I am so embarrassed, but let me check.

Allison, honestly I didn't kill everything that you sent!!!!

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

I have a couple Wrangler's Stampede babies now withpink in the their so cute. I took a leaf off when I sent Bob a good size plant ! I wonder what happen to his. lol
Oh poor Ellie Gardner she was always blooming for me I loved her flowers but when I saw it on your wish list April I wanted you to have her. I did put a couple leaves down.I hope she is still alive.
Maybe you are over watering them April ? That is the number one way to murder and African violet. Laurie use to over water her's. I'm so sick and in bed all the time mine never get over watered lol
Do you have lights ? I forget .
OH my I was so proud sending a good size nice variegated plant of Picasso I hope he is OK.
You should always put leaves down from all your plants. One for insurance and 2 nd to trade and share !
The Kin a good ole Vintage hope he is ok. If they are not doing well put a leaf down. All are hard to find. and re-pot each making sure their not too wet or dry. And then put together a good water/feeding program / And good circulation/air no plants touching/ Light . light is the most important .Oh I wish I could be there to help you.

Missouri City, TX(Zone 9a)

I know that you must think I killed off everything that you sent me Allison, but honestly, I didn't-

Some were leaves, some were plants. I know that I lost quite a few and you don't know how badly I feel.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Don't feel bad it's OK. Good idea to put leaves down from all your plants ! Just for insurance and if nothing happens you have more to share !
