Hi everyone :o)
Last year I bougth two hibiscus at a supermarked
For around 1$. They were really looking sorry for them selves, but for that price
I disided to give it a try.
One has just given bloom, the other will probably to next week.
Can anyone give me a name for this one? I know there a so
many different ones but I could be lucky
Monica
My first hibiscus
Hi Monica,
I don't know what the name is, but it's just lovely!
Where is Horsens? I lived in DK for a few years and we are going back for a visit in July. I'm just curious. :-)
LoraB.
Hi Lora.
Do you know Aarhus? It is about 20 min. drive from there, to the south.
If you look in a map you will find it in the middle part of jutland, but
toward the east by the sea/inlet.
Only been living here for to years, moved from Aalborg.
Were will you be visiting?
I do know Aarhus. My sister-in-law used to live there. They moved to Sabro which isn't too far from there, I think.
We will be in Sunds (outside of Herning) for a few weeks to visit my husband's mother and then on to Copenhagen to stay with friends for a bit. I love it there in the summer.
Had to look Sabro up, do not know this area well
Have`t even learned all the street names yet
Horsens is here.

Love Copenhagen visit there ones at year, and run around like crazy in Tivoli and always end up eating to much ice cream LOL
Hope weather will behave will you are here and that you will enjoy your stay :o)
Hi Monica:
It's hard to give a name to your unknown bloom. I don't know if it has bloomed before but I guess this is a semi-double bloom rather than a single one. Then it could be an old european variety called "Classic White" (europeans didn't have imagination when they started to give names to hibiscus varieties).
Dutch and danish growers were who introduced many varieties in the european market. These plants were - and are - compact plants, easy to grow in their own roots, very floriferous with small blooms rather ordinary.
If you are interested here you have links of danish pages about hibiscus

Hi Carlos
Very interesting info there, very usefull links, thanks.
It could be the one named Cairo white, it has a very
pale yellow in the edges.
Looks more similar to the first link, eventhough the center looks darker, guessing it is lack of lighting
The bloom is about 12-14 cm in diameter, and the plant is about 35 cm tall. So it kind of machtes what you wrote. How big can the bloom of a hibiscus get.
Asking as you say the european ones are small, I am all curious now :o)
Hi zest.......... how big? take a look at this H. Syriacus.ppsssstttttttt its hardy to your zone and you can leave it out in the garden covered with leaves or straw (halm)

Monica, some rosa sinensis hybrids can reach near 26-27 cms (11") but most are around 18-20 cms (7-8"). When a H. rosa sinensis is less than 13 cms (5.5") is consider a miniature by Societies rules.

Janett who is the little cutie, and were can I find that hibiscus
It is beautiful!!
Carlos, 13 cm seem a lot to be a miniature, but considering that some gets to 26-27 cm it makes sense.
The cutie isnt mine, its MyRee:s Grandson she posted that on this tread as an answere to me.
