More or less light

Anniston, AL(Zone 5a)

I got B.black Taffeta from Kartuz about a month ago. The leaves that it had on it were green. Now it has put out 3 dark burgundy almost black leaves. I noticed all of the old leaves turning yellow. I thought when this first started that maybe she wasn't getting enough light. However, when I moved her to a brighter area it seemed to turn the already yellowing leaves faster. Right now I have her sitting in a well lite room but now directly in the window( north facing window). I know several of you have this begonia. If anyone has any advice on how much light she prefers, I would greatly appreciate it. I know that this may just be time for the older leaves to fall off. The new leaves are not turning yellow. Advice anyone?

Hi there. Check this thread and scroll all the way down to the next to last post - last picture - in the thread.

Is that the one you have? If so, I have had mine approximately 12 inches from standard fluorescent fixture bulbs (4) that are on 18/off 6 since the day I got it. None of the leaves have changed color, but some died... withered up with the trip to FL and back situation. I don't know what you might do other than to check your roots and see if they are healthy and/or repot. Try using some H2O2 in your watering and see if that helps. I swear by the stuff for everything from seeds to mature plants. Hope this helps. I love the deep, deep purple of that plant.

well heck.... I just went back and saw that you said black taffeta and not black velvet. Sorry. :-(
