any one help me?
Moretz;
If you call Texas water lilies I just used their phone number and asked if they had any and they did.
I got ten for $10.00. They looked great. They went through some cold weather in shipment but they are doing fine and starting to grow even in our cool spring weather. I still have them in a seperate black rubber tub.
to help keep the water warm. They are not suposed to have them so be understanding. They have been a great source for me even for the lotus tubers. just great.
There is another source it is pond plants something or other. I will send this then look it up. and right back.

moretz
i am looking for the lotus too lol
Moretz;
They don't advertize the Water hyacinth. . You really should call them and just causually ask if they happen to have any. They quit advertizeing it as they were told by someone , a member of DG , about the very stiff fine in Texas for even haveing it for personal use. The fine would be something like $200.00 per plant and jail time.
But the lotus tubers I think they may have ended their spring offer by now. Their tubers were very large, many who purchased from them, have a lot of leaves already.
Mine will be a little behind that though as, This aint Florida.
Mine are showing some leaves though, just like your early spring. The price quoted to me was $0.99 each for the hyacinth, Over the phone, of course. If you called they may even have some tubers left ?????
As far as I know the only difference in color is the mini hyacinth has a darker blue than the regular size. Which would have been $2.95 ea I think.
I just ordered some water lettuce from Pinellas Park FL.
for postage. one box for $8.10 flat rate postage.
She really don't know what each box would weigh. but the way it reproduces, any good amount will soon offer good shade for the fish. That is as long as the weather warms up. Wishing you much luck Russ
Oh the other site I mentioned you would have to go to Goggle and type in pond plants .com and in the left collum click on bog plants to get another screen, then in the next screen you would click on floating plants, then scroll down till you find water hyacinth they were also $0.99 ea for the mini, Which I could not tell the difference between the large that I have had in the past. Good luck
Hey Guys,
I can get some WH, I think they are $1.00 a plant from the local fish farm. I am located in Oklahoma. Let me know if you want any. The people are very nice. They have all kinds of fish but you can get Koi there also. Some of the Koi are the butterfly finned ones too. Small Koi are $3.00 and are up to about 3"-4" and then Large ones are $5.00 for 4"-6". They have one really pretty Koi that must be close to 18" and the lady said they would sell it for $40.00. Their main business is catfish, bass, blue gill and grass carp. They do have tilapia for $5.00 and they are good to use to keep the alge growth down, but they don't winter unless you take them inside.
Vickie
Vickie; Hey thanks for steping in. Word of mouth is the way we find out where some of the best buys are.
It kind of gives a person a good feeling when you can help another ( fellow water gardener) save some cash.
I know I am interested. Not only in WH. but also some fish. I will have to look at our work load and finances, to determin what I can do. I have been thinking of changing over to the buterfly Koi. Let me get back to you after DW and I look over our situation. I know that next year we will have to look for more pond plants. We have close friends in Tulsa so we could combine the trip, to a win win.
Russ
randbponder, where in pinellas park did you get your plants? Was it a nursery? Because I just put in a pond and was looking to put some plants in and that is not too far from me:) I would much rather go pick them up than have them shipped in this heat. thanks
ellagarden;
I am not sure if she has any more or not, saw her post a close on her offer. It was budgielover. She had an excess, and rather than destroy it. she offered it for postage where it was not ilegal. You may still check with her, if you don't need much.
Hello all. I am sure there are lots of sources, but I never get deals like those you mentioned! Moretz, a good source for pond plants and supplies is Lilypons in Maryland, but you sure are not going to save any bucks. Still worth a free online look! They have a pretty good selection of lilies, and other plants, tadpoles, all sorts of supplies. So, here is the website address for anyone who would like to look at some of them. You can also ask for their catalog. Free. www.lilypons.com. Good luck. BAM
thxs i emailed them, i figured someone might have some for trade or postage lol thxs
