What the best on-line source to buy episcia? I've been looking Rob's Min.African Violet page but I've never bought from him.
P
Epsicia
What ones are you looking for? Some of us here may be willing to send you some :)
too many to list and list grows longer every time I find another websight.
LOL, too funny. Did you check the stickies at the begining of the AV forum. There is a list of sources.
aprilw,
Ack! Ick! EEK! I don't know if checking out the stickies was a good thing or a bad thing. Now I'm really confused and all that can come from that is my cc bursting into flames and singing(sp?) my eyebrows off my face....LOL
P
How about to try some out. Here you can get nice plants for $ 4.00 each ! Gary is great to buy from. Go ahead an try a Streptocarpus plant while you are at it :))

Nothing will burst into flames...or at least I don't think it will, LOL. The stickie notes are just general information. You are just too funny. :-))
bigred do you grow any Epsicia or African violets now ? Which ones !
I use to grow AV for retail and wholesale. Got my first epsicia a couple years ago and two new ones last year...Strawberry Patch and one labeled Silver Shield which I suspect is Silver Sheen. I really, really want E.Cleopatra and S.Party Boy...BAD!...and many, many others.
aprilw,
you just don't know me wery well...things have been known to combust when I get in a feeding/buying frenzy...LOL
Oh so your a very experience grower ! Share with us please ! Do you have pictures ! E.Cleopatra and S.Party Boy..are more exspensive ones . On my wish list too ! There are a few vendors in the stickies that sell these two :))
I have cleopatra (I think) I have one of the variegated ones :)
cleopatra saw it on Ebay under African violets ! I think seller PJ's ? has it for sale.
Yes, but it's been many years since I raised AV for resale.I grow root hearty perennials, flowering shrubs and trees and native trees/shrubs and native flowers now.
My computer room was my propagation room back then and I'd have trays and trays(20-40 at a time) of leaves struck at once. There's a small lean-to greenhouse just outside the computer room that I used for growing off finished AV's. My favorites were the little micro-mini's. Don't see many of those any more. The lean-to is used for winter over trops now.I quit AV's when price of heating started going up,back in mid 80's,the thought of heating a gh now is scarey.
Chris,
Cleopatra is pink and cream var. w/ red flowers. Pink Dream is much the same but w/ bright pink blooms. Don't know if I can post commercial webpages so if anyone wants the link ,d-mail me.
Violet Treasures,
What a co-winky-dink...my name's Peggy Jean...PJ! Maybe this is a sign I should look into that seller.
P
It's Ok you can pots links. They may even be in our stickys :))
Bigred you are very funny. I love a good sense of humor!
Bigred..mine has not bloomed yet and that is why I don't know which var. it is :)
and yup we can post commericial sites here and we often do :)
I bought Cleopatra and couple other pink variegated foliage Epsicas couple last year plus months ago from Violet Barn. I did his three special for $ 35.00. YOu know his prices have remained the same ! But everyone liked them so I gave them all away :))
The lady that does my hair for free Hospice Vol. she fell in love with one I had just got. It was a good size. I planted it into a six inch hanging pot I buy from Violet Barn also and gave it to her :))
Alrighty, epsicias and sinningias are almost impossible to find in my area and forget about finding seeds! Would anyone have a white flowering one. I saw a picture of one and it was so lovely! Some cuttings would be wonderful! I have some cuttings of some hoyas for trade if interested. Thanks!
Amandac: This is a very old thread from 2006. You might want to start a new thread with your question and also, you might want to post on the Canadian gardening forum too.
I wish I was in Canada, I would love to do a trade for your hoya cuttings. I love hoyas. But, with all the rules and regulations regarding the shipment of plant material across the border I would not want to take the chance on getting fined. Sorry, but with the requirement of a phytosanitary certificate and all the red tape, you might have trouble making a trade with people in the U.S.
I know there are a couple of gal's from Canada who grow AV's and possibly other gesneriads. They sometimes post on the African Violet forum so maybe they will see your post. But, you should post your request on the Canadian forum too.
Good luck and I hope you find the plants you are looking for!
thanks plantladylin! Yes, I was hoping someone from Canada would see this one. I'll keep searching. Thanks again!
There are 2 or 3 Canadian eBay sellers if you check there I'd think one of them could help you find some. I hate to send you to feebay but??? A girls gotta have her plants..lol
