Here is a picture of a contented Tom Kitten in a basket of catnip. Fortunately he did no harm, as the catnip recovered beautifully. This basket of catnip is a favorite of our cats and the neighbor's cats. It's amazing that it looks so good.
Contented Cat
Great picture. I place an old birdcage over mine so that they can nibble but not eat the whole plant (which they have done before).
Thanks! That is a great photo and I enjoyed a good laugh. We have one cat with the catnip gene and I have never gotten her picture but have seen her draped over the pot with bliss on her face. The catnip is now in the plant hospital as she managed to get it out of the pot and roll around on the root ball. Will use a heavier pot next. Thanks again... that is really cute. Pod
That is a wonderful photo! How funny and so very cute! Thank you very much for sharing it with us.
If you plant it... they will come...
I have three cats who are ALL addicted to it! I've started some seedlings, and so far they're leaving them alone. I've heard that until the plant is bruised, they can't tell what it is. I love the birdcage idea. Nothing more relaxed than a stoned cat, is there?
My cat Gizzy become "wild cat" after eating the catnip and you can't touch her or she bites! Poor Lucy, our other cat, gets the brunt of her " 'nipping "
what a cute picture! I planted catnip last year and my gang really loved it, but so did the neighborhood cats, it disappeared. I will have to plant it up high this year.
This is my happy cat, Bitty, in her favorite patch of catmint, Nepeta fassenii. She seems to prefer this in the garden, and the regular catnip when it is dried. She approaches this plant with a very guilty look before she indulges. I don't get many other cats, but I've never noticed evidence of multiple visitors. (Bitty only goes out when I do.)
So your cat might like catmint, as well!
"Take me for a trip
Aboard your magic catnip ship..."
THAT cat is enjoying life.
I have lost 3 catnip plants this year, to my one ferocious cat. She would eat the whole plant and pull up the roots so it was completely gone. By chance I found a solution, in a library book. The suggestion is that you plant your catnip (they planted seeds), and lay a roll of chicken wire on top of it. It will grow up through the wire but the cats can't get enough of the plant to ruin it. Bought another plant and I'm going to try this.
