Starfly~ It's not an African Violet...but it may be a type of gesneriad. There are some really helpful people on this forum who will let you know :))

For sure it's not an AV, do the other plants have the same sort of foliage and habit?

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

It is a nematanthus I believe :) I think it is tropicana but not entirely positive :)
Definitely is a gesnersiad but not an AV

Missouri City, TX(Zone 9a)

You are sooo smart!

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

Erm..definitely not April :)

And I am only givng an educated guess on the tropicana..many nems look alike :)

Missouri City, TX(Zone 9a)

Missouri City, TX(Zone 9a)

Whhewww! I am glad that I said what I thought instead of trying to sound like I knew more than I do.
It is pretty and I love gardenias, they smell so wonderful don't they?

I'd have to agree w/ Lorry, who knows more about these things, that it looks like a nematanthus- I wouldn't even begin to guess about anything more specific.

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

LOL the gardenia is lovely :)

They all look like nematanthus to me :) without a flower, it is hard to say which ones they are :)

Homosassa, FL(Zone 9a)

thanks everyone

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

Oh wait..the second one likes like alsobia.
The first one with the shiney leaves is a nematanthus and I believe the second..with the serrated leaves is a alsobia :)

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

DC metro, VA(Zone 7b)

I'm pretty sure the second one (posted at 1:24) is a columnea. Thicker fleshier stems, fuzzier leaves than a nem.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Yes the first picture most likely is a Nematanthus . Maybe Nematanthus 'Tropicana'
http://gesneriads.ca/nemata25.htm
But there are a lot of them. Will be nice to see the flowers :))
Keyring know Gesberiads really well so she is most like right !
The other picture is most likly a Cygnet .
These are all kissing cousins of Afircan violets.
There are so many
I thought this plant was interesting
Nematanthus albus Chautems ined
When they bloom we can tell more !
