massive chinese banana

Niceville, FL(Zone 8b)

My chinese banana is massive this year. The trunk is huge. It did not die back over the winter so I am expecting a bloom this season.

That last leaf looks like the flag leaf!
Won't be long now until flower.
Are those all pups surrounding her massive trunk??
Looks fantasticly huge!

Oh I hope so!!! Yep, those are all pups surrounding her.If I count correctly, there are 26 pups.
She is not so tall as she is wide. She takes up a lot of space.

Here is the nicest one I have seen blooming. Mine over wintered in Kentucky but does not look so hot at the moment I doubt I will see a bloom here this year.

WOW, Lisa! Did all that come back after winter or did it go inside?! That is amazing. I think it's time for me to make a trip to Niceville. Maybe after Mother's Day sometime?

That would be good Barbara. Actually, because we did not have much of a winter, it did not die back. I left it out and only brought it in one night when the temps dropped. A couple of leaves had to be cut off but that is it. I cant believe the darn thing has been so happy in a pot.
