South Georgia ground cover

Valdosta, GA

I'm considering planting a fairly large area of my back yard (~1,500 sf) with trachelospermum asiaticum (asiatic jasmine). Any pros or cons to consider? Alternatives?

Thanks

Tyrone, GA(Zone 7b)

I have never tried it myself but I have heard that it can be very invasive and takes over any shrubs or trees that it is planted near. Needs to be cut back/trimmed on a regular basis to keep under control. That's the only negative I'm aware of. If there's nothing around that it can take over, you should go for it. This is a pretty groundcover.

Saint Simons Island, GA

last year i planted two forms of asiatic jasmine in my front yard in southern georgia (saint simons island) and both are doing well but it will be a long time before they take over anything, maybe it depends on how closely, how many you plant them and the time frame you are looking at. dooley
