Snow ..now!!!???

stettler, AB(Zone 3a)

yep ,well it is snowing ,nothing that will stick to the ground
but neverthe less IT IS SNOWING
I just planted some beeding heart roots
will they take ?

They shoud be fine. Especially if they are heallthy dormant plants. They are talking about -2 for us on Thursday night. I'm worried a bit for some of my lilies but at least mine are not too big yet, because I had lots of snow cover. It could be bad for some gardeners.

Victoria, BC(Zone 8b)

We had some frost this morning, but I think everything is ok.

I haven't had frost for 6 weeks up island but my spot is very protected. All the brugs are just about out. Some went out a week or so ago. Sandy dropped by today and helped me move a bunch. What a sweetheart. Some are so big that they hit the top of the conservatory which is 15 feet at least. She held the tops together while I dragged them out.

Jeanne that's beautiful! What a lovely spot you have. Good to hear that Sandy is still about. My brugs are sticks compared to yours.!

Well if we get a big wind, mine will be naked too. I'm going to tie them all on the deck rail. Hoping for calm weather.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

They were (are) predicting snow in Calgary too. I'll have to ask DS what is happening in the Jaw.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Well I saw a few flakes of snow early this morning and just a little while ago. Guess I better check the weather forecast. Trying to get 3-4 loads of compost spread every day but not if it snows. Wouldnt be Calgary if we didnt have snow sometime in May. but it is more fun to take Pam to all garden centres

We had some frost here last week. Not too much damage though....A couple tulips got hit and I lost some of the balsam in my coldframe....but that's about it.

Steve

Aaak! It's coming.

Predicting snow for us on Thurs night & Saturday. Has been 25ºC for the last three days, going to hate to see -3ºC.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 2b)

Frost - in Victoria --- in MAY!!! Things really are crazy aren't they.

I've covered all my oriental lilies with buckets with a rock on top of each. The others will just have to do whatever.

At least the 2 ft. tall marties will be OK. They can take up to -6 apparently, according to the Winnipeg martie queen.

Inanda hoping to hear how much S!@# Stettler gets. Am sure Lilypon will chime in here with Moose Jaw precip.

Hi Marilyn. You had the same weather that we had last week. Let's hope this week will be better.

Linda

We didn't get any snow where I am, but I heard they got some here and there in Wpg. Snow ..... frost so thick you could stand on it. Doesn't make much difference when its -4C. Most things recovered in a few days, except my bleeding hearts and some little irises, that don't look so perky. But -10, wow, I shouldn't be complaining.

Cochrane, ON(Zone 2b)

I actually covered some of my plants for two nights as l lost most of my lily blooms for two years in a row because of the frost. You wait an entire year only to have them wiped out overnight.

I covered some too. Martagons, Corydalis, a few other lilies, and then I gave up. Just way to much if I was going to worry about it all. I have my little prizes spread around here and there. The tulips were sure dragging on the ground for a day or so. My drumstick primulas changed colour from freezing. I guess more of the damage will show up as the season wears on.
