budgielover,

I am seeing a new hummer around the yard now. I am pretty sure it is a fledgling. It is black and white spotted. Am I assuming too much or do the immature hummers look like this? Or does it depend on the species?

Thanks,

Chuck

I have never had the good fortune to have one here even though much of much gardening is for hummers and butterflies.

I have been trying to entice butterflies for three years now and I just noticed today that most of my plants only attract hummingbirds...LOL

Hummingbirds are okay too!!

Thanks,

Chuck

I get tons of butterflies. Would love a hummer. Be sure you grow the right plants for the butterflies in your areas. Some are picky and will only eat one variety and at the same time, only lay on another particular one. Monarchs for instance will usually only lay on asclepias.
Gulf frittalaries (sp?) will only lay on passiflora.
