Hi,
Golda here. Pleased to find this forum and plan to participate, as much as gardening allows.
My zone is 5a. I particularly love my shade gardens. I have quite a bit of land cultivated, much of it woodland bound. Besides the creative part of gardening (planning, designing), I love the dirty work; digging, planting, edging, mulching (well that's a love-hate thing). I like my plantings on the natural side, wildish even. I am not terribly formal and besides our land doesn't inspire that approach.
My DH is an appreciative beholder, but does little more than turning the sprinkler system on in Spring and off in Fall. He never plants or digs, but that is okay, he cheers me on.
I am an avid hobbiest; besides gardening, I knit, am a passionate cook, and love photography.

Hi there from WV!
Nice shade gardens...and is that a veggie garden I see in the background? :)
pam
Thank you Pam,
and yes, it was a veggie garden from 1986 until about 1999 when the trees nearby blocked the sun too much and voracious critters got to interested. I then turned it into a nursery of sorts for propagating transplants......but lo, the weeds and volunteers had their way, and the wood was deteriorating. So late last summer, in conjuction with the removal of an in-ground oil tank, I had it torn down. I must confess that I missed the view of it from inside, but am relieved to be free of the tasks it presented.
Here is its delapidated weedy self just before removal. Photo taken from opposite side.
