Haven't been around here lately. We put our fish back outside a week ago.
These were ½" long when we bought them middle of last summer.

I have a pond shaped very similar to yours, but I didn't use the waterfall. Since you seem experienced with fish, can pond goldfish be feed with a weekend feeder that is meant for aquariums? I have to leave mine alone a few days. It says one feeds 10 to 12 fish for three days. My fish are large, so I think one will work, but maybe I should put two?

If you pond is established...algea...plant material etc. You dont have to feed every day and most people advise against it.

We never fed them last summer & they grew great guns!
A nieghbor lady has a fairly big pond & very clean, with 7 big Koi in it. She said the only food they get is when the grandkids feed them some pellets. And that is not often.

I have algea and some new plants that are growing fast. I guess I'll leave one of the time-release things and let them stay in the pond. I didn't know whether or not goldfish ate plants or had to be fed.

Goldfish can live off things in the pond for a very long time, without additional food.

We are only home on weekends, and we find the pond stays much cleaner if we only feed the gold fish once in a while. They have managed to get really big and have survived 4 winters, so I agree they do not need fed on a daily basis. They are natural beggars, and it's fun to watch them, but don't give in to their antics too often.
