Roopville, GA(Zone 7b)

i got a small a water lily a few months ago from a wonderful d.g. member. it was dormant at the time but has now starting producing small leaves. one has grown to top of water already. i barely put the pot underwater at edge of my pond. my question is how long does it take till blooming? do you think it will bloom this year? this is my very first water lily so i appreciate your help. my pond is an in ground pond but smaller than a lake.

it is a hardy white water lily.

You can lower the pot a bit at a time and the leaves will reach to the surface. It's kind of hard to say when it will bloom. It will when it is mature and well rooted.

There's really no reason why it wouldn't bloom this year, Kelly. Depending on the size of the tuber, you could reasonably have your first bloom in a few weeks. Be sure to fertilize if you want a good show this year!

i hope it blooms!!!!! i can't wait!!!! my sister in law has some pretty pink water lilies blooming right now. i went over last week and she had 8 open! i am going to have to talk her out of one :)

slowly move it to a proper depth for a hardy...usually at "least" 12 inches.

does it get good sun ?

fertilize it monthly..

it should bloom this year.

it gets good sun and i will do as advised and start lowering it more each few days. thanks for the help!
