New Window Shelf in the making :))
It's little over 8 ft. I am waiting for it to dry. It has nice white brackets that hold it the most exspensive part.under to hold it. I am going to have two but just one now as it cost little over $ 40.00 another one in June :)) I love growing in natural light !
New Window Shelf in the making :))
That is awesome Allison! I have a bookshelf in front of my window that I have 4 violets and 4 pots of leaves on. I'm hoping to talk Jeff (DH) into more bookshelves (I love books too) so that I can have the tops for plants! He bought me a really cool plan shelf last year, I'm hoping to get him to set it up tomorrow. He works 12 hour shifts, and drives 100 miles round trip. He is off 3 days 1 week, 4 days the next, but is on mandatory overtime, 8 hours a week. Its really hard to get him to do stuff for me, with mowing the grass and working to keep cars running. Never enough time :(
Love your shelves tho!
Janis
Thanks Janis I have one but not as wide in the front windows. I do have two light stands and a stand with no lights just windows. Nut I need more room. So Hubby had the idea to move the TV center over to the other wall to free up the windows for more plants window stands for me :)). I love growing in natural light. Epsicas, Streps, Chiritas, and more grow excellent in natural light L))
They look awesome Allison :)
Thanks Lorry :)) As soon as it is dry it will be filled and I will get another one on top of it
That is so lovely Allison. I had one like this just smaller, in England. You will be able to grow lots of more babies. I can't wait to see it full!!!
The shelf is perfect. It will make a wonderful home for your plants. Great idea!
Well it was hubby idea and soon I will have another one over it. I love growing Strep's, and epsicas and more in natural light . They grow so big and flower all the time in the window.
That looks really neat. Hubby is a good guy. : )
Yes he is ! He made me another one same room in the front windows. Next he will make me another to go above this one !
Very nice Allison.Your plants will love the selves.
Thanks Jan !
It looks great Allison. That gives me an idea for my DH. Linda
yippee Window shelves
Yippee Allison!! I love them and now know what I will be doing next week while DH is out of town working...:)....Lauri
Looks super! can't wait to see photos of it filled with beauties!!
(way to go Robert! Nice work!)
Great idea...hmmmmm
Plants are starting to travel to my new shelf ! Then the second one will be made :)) Might do plexi glass for second ?? To allow light to go threw ? Not sure ?
I have just moved both of my huge steel plant shelf units that I keep my cacti and succulents on to the other side of the room. They were both in front of a huge window but I found it hard to regulate the amount of light they were getting using both window light and fixture light. So it is on the other side of the room now and the sofa is in front of the window. Your shelf gives me an idea Allison. I could go up a little higher than where our heads would be and mount a shelf up over that in front of the window. Oh what a lovely idea. I am going to put hanging baskets on that wall in front of the window but I will put them up a little higher. I think it would be so nice to have my AVs on something other than those chrome shelves. Plus I have an 8' white shelf just sitting around not being used so this will be perfect. Thanks for the idea Allison. And I've fallen in love with my streps. I've only got two so far but I can't wait to get more. I had to postpone my trip until the following week because of so many dr appts. But when I get back I want to look into getting a couple more streps.
Jesse
My shelf is full ! Looking cute :)) I'm sure it will be moved around a lot ! I move my plants around like furniture :))
I think the shelf above will be plexi glass to let light threw. I am loving it :)) I'll take more pictures.
Allison,
Love your new shelf! I want to do something like that in my breakfast area, but we are trying to figure out the supports because the shelf would have to be a little over six feet wide and there's nowhere to put a center support. Yours is just perfect. Can't wait to see the pictures :-)
Sharon
HUbby had a hard time . Trailer walls just plywood , or paneling . He uses the nice heavy medal suports. That's what cost the most. This shelf is 8 1/2 feet long ft wide. I think he buys a nice thick heavy pine.
I forgot not sure what he did as the screws he first put in came right out nothing to suport or hold them let alone a large shelf and lots of heavy plants. I passed out but he did it :))
Allison,
Your hubby sounds like a wonderful man. I'm glad that you have a DH like that who helps you with your AVs. My DH helps me the best that he can and is very supportive of me also. I would not take a million bucks for my sweet DH. I'm glad that you have yours too.
Jesse
Yes I am very Blessed :))
Your shelf is super-glad you have more room to grow your plants.
Thanks ! The shelf is full ! In June i'll get another one over it !
I'll be sending you plants soon too. God willing next week I am hoping to get boxes shipped Monday - Thursday !
I have been trying to catch up on trans-planitn. Still have to put the leaves I got yesterday down. I went to do it but fount too many dry leaves and plants and more dry plants today. I am going to have to put them down after a nap today and do more watering and trans-planting :))
I'm in no hurry.
Please don't over do & get your rest.
I enjoy & have fun looking at all the pretty pictures :)
Thanks Colie :)) I have Special plants saving for you :))
Allison that is a great idea! Looks like the plants will be at the right level to enjoy! Will have to keep that in mind as I re-design my living space to accomodate my AVs! LOL.
Yes my husband selected the level too. He said down to low would not get the light good that this level they would get good light. We still have room for another shelf above this one :)) I keep falling asleep if I wake long enough lol can post the pictures of the shelf full !
