Optimara and naming
Very interesting, but it's an excuse. What the person is saying is that if you want the name you need to order through Selective Gardener and pay the price. If you want cheap violets you'll have to guess what the name is.
I guess it is the same with other growers. My Boo Man from Violet Gallery isn't blooming true. It is pure white. Could be my conditions. It is still beautiful. There are at least 100 blooms on this simi mini plant. Looks like a puffy snowball.
Yes your right Nanna. I kept reading and reading.
Nanna how cute can you post a picture of Boo Man !
Yes so many plants don't bloom true .
Sense I'm not showing I find it fun and unteresting ! But someone showing would not feel it was funny.
There are at least 8 to 10 blooms per stem. It has bloomed this way three times since I purchased it from Violet Gallery in October of 2005.
Oh so pretty ! Maybe instead of Boo Man it should be Snow Man :))
I know when I first saw it selling on Ebay prices went high. The colors were darker and lot's of green And I love green flowers but never able to win it.
Boo Man (8502) 11/09/1996 (S. Sorano) Semidouble-double light blue frilled pansy/white-feathered top petals, variable green. Black-green, plain, pointed. Semiminiature

And FC says it's supose to even be light blue with white petal tops not white with some blue. lol
FC picture you barely see blue maybe light light light blue.
Holy cow, nanna!!! That's a lot of blooms on that little guy:0) It's beautiful!!
I agree that what the Optimara rep said was a total cop out. How can their accuracey rate only be 75%, no matter how hard they try? That seems ridiculous to me. What are they doing there that is making their accuracy rate so low? Other nurseries label theirs and they do not have that problem. I think it is just easier for them to grow them and stick them out for sale without the added cost of labeling them and instead of telling everyone that, they come up with some silly excuse like that. Anyway, I will continue to buy from them because sometimes I do find some of them labeled. But there are other places out there that I prefer to buy from and theirs are all lableled. I had rather pay an extra dollar and get one with a name than to pay a dollar less and not get the name. But then there are times when it is just such a beautiful plant that I buy it no matter what it is called. So I do a little of both I guess.

There sure are a zillions of flowers no plant :))
