My brother-in-law was given a huge amount of large tea bags from a commercial tea bottler. He has run them through the mulcher and is using on plants. Is there a type of plant that would not benefit from tea?And could someone tell me what they would best be used on. Thank you for any help. Gabriell
tea bags
Gabriell, i suppose that the tea bags have tea in them. All acid loving plants such a azalea and hydrangea, would benefit from the tea mulch since they like acic soil.
For the rest of your plants you can mix the tea with compost or mulch, and you can use for all the others. I think it is best to mix it with other organic matter, that way you have a more balanced fertilizer.
Josephine.
I put down a few layers of cardboard, cover that with a thick layer of autumn leaves, & mix in the tea bags & Starbucks coffee grounds.
If I don't have the time to do that, I just put them into the compost.
If I have the time & need the acidity, as Josephine says, for an azalea or some such, I tear open the bag & shake the tea leaves onto the soil around the plant & toss the empty bag into the compost!
