Living in a time warp re: babies

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

So I was feeling sorry for myself this morning because there is no sign of any babies from my dropped leaves. Surely Anna sent me the first ones months ago!! And Allison's leaves must have arrived quite a while ago, too. *whining* Why aren't there any babies yet!!!

I decided to check my journal where I keep track of such dates and find the following: Anna's leaves were dropped April 7th and Allison's April 13th!!! Obviously I am stuck in a time warp!! ~lol~ I guess I might have to wait just a bit longer before I throw a little baby fit!!

Jacki it can take I'd say for good timing you can expect to see your first roots starting to developing in about 4-6 weeks. New shoots, ears, plantlets will begin appearing in ten to sixteen weeks. Each leaf cutting is different and time will vary according to the variety of the African violet and healthy of the leaf and age of the leaf too.
A good five to nine months you shall have a blooming plant.
Now of course there are ones that roots, bloom younger/faster, and ones that are slowers
.*** From the time I put a leaf down until I take it from Mom is a good average of four - six months for me.
Now it's Spring is the best time ! The leaf cutting is alive and expends a lot of energy to stay alive and produce a new African violet for you ! Give it nourishment every 14 days to replenish its energy and allow for rapid plant development. Give them as much non-burning light you can.
When the babies start coming you will have so many you won't know what to do ! I say with your leaves you will have some where between 60-100 babies.
Are you set up and ready, I use 2 inch round pots, wicks, soil, light room :))
Do you have any plants now ? Any baby African violet plants ? Or just leaves ? I can send you some babies to keep you smiling until you have some from your leaves :))

Jacki,
I did the same thing the first time I put down leaves :-) Finally started putting the date on the little pots, which helps. Hope ALL of yours make babies!!

Thanks all :) Your words are helpful as always. Plus, it helps to know there are other people out there who are/have been staring at cups of leaves and trying to make them grow by sheer willpower~lol~~
