I am a Bad AV Mom :(

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

If you need leaves killed send them to me!! Well about half of the leaves Allison sent me have gone to AV heaven, but the plants are going great as is the crown plantlet...Then this a.m. I'm doing dishes and then hear a crash and thump in the spare bedroom....go to see a mess in there, what was left of my leaves are upside down on the floor and the 13 year old cat is making laps down the hall and thru the bedroom and off the plant stand, can you guess who helped me??? Anyone need a crazed, frisky old cat??.So, anyhoo, I spent the better part of an hour repotting them and some have roots and others are just there. They look o.k. ....so far..Lauri

P.S. she helped me clean up by attacking the broom and my ankle and then heading outside....

Thanks for the laugh!!! I can just picture the whole thing. Sorry for the mishap. Isn't life wonderful. Hope my laughing didn't dampen your day.

Just wish I had as much energy as yout cat!

LOL nanna no never, I laughed when I saw the mess and again after I was attacked. Right now she is running up and down the apple tree. Her and the dog are taking turns chasing each other around the yard....Lauri

OH Lauri I have dumped boxes of leaves myself. It's OK I re-potted mine up. This first happend to me a couple years ago when I bought my first order off 100 leaves. . I dumped a new box of about 16 cups and could not tell which went in which cup. So these plants were surprises until they bloomed.
I am always dropping plants, though I should not and will not complain I am just so lucky I can use my hands at all.
Oh and get this Hubby knocks plants over all the time. On my window shelves...and he just puts it back. And does not tell me until I notice. I looked at a plant the other day looked funny missing a couple leaves dirt looked funny. I said did you knock this then he always says yes. But why not tell me when it happens so I can fix it and put down leaves.
Not long ago he was doing something in our front window and the shade fell knocking a few of my favorite expensive minis all over. I heard him. So this time I at least made sure I picked up the leaves to use and re-potted the plants.
I glad your plants are doing good ! Can't wait to see them blooming ! When they are large enough put leaves down from them also :))

I've started a lot of seedlings this year for my garden and have them on sheving units on our covered front porch. They are all weighed down with bricks, etc to keep them stable...but evidently not enough! Yesterday's blustery wind knocked over a whole shelf, spewing about three flats of flower seedlings all over the porch!! Eeekkk! But what can you do except scrape it up the best you can, water them in and hope for the best :)

I gotta admit though, when the mailman came to the house I was on my knees cleaning them up and muttering some choice phraseology and he caught me. ~lol~ Oops!!

Lauri, do you want a few leaves? I could send you some. I don't have a lot and they are all NOIDs, but they are still pretty. I actually have a green/pink variegated foliage one. It won't bother me if they end up in AV heaven or as a kitty toy.....the same thing happens here all the time! I have 4-5 different ones I could send you if you're interested. I'm out of room anyway. Jesse just offered me some leaves the other day, bless her heart, and I had to refuse!! Let me know. I can ship them out whenever you'd like and sometime you can send me some leaves after a kitty cat-tastrophy here.

BTW, what do you feed that cat? That's a LOT of energy for 13 yrs old!!

Lauri,
Couldn't help laughing about your cat. I have two that get into everything. I used to keep AVs on the windowsill in the kitchen, but the cats have made it very clear that they own that space! LOL Glad you were able to salvage them.

Heather, Thank You for the offer of leaves but I still have 12 going as of this morning and no cat attacks, yet. But I did move them from the raceway...LOL I feed her 1/2 can of Friskies can cat food in the morning and again at night and she has free roam of Kit n Kaboodles crunchies all day....There may be my problem, I need to find a different cat food something along the lines of *lazy* kitty instead...Lauri

I can always send you another box of babies and leaves too :))
I know you will have lots of babies and blooms ! Your a great AV Mom !

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Oh Thanks Allison, But so far these babies are growing and putting on new leaves, I check 4-5 times a day. I got so excited and hollered at my DH when I saw the first new leaf coming on and he just said oh that is nice. The only ones I lost were all the Feather leaves but still have at least one of all the others and 2 that I have no ides which pot they came out of...The new verigated NOID I got and nursed to health is growing and still in timeout from everyone else.... oh my, mischievous cats! Boy do I know about them! I have had to put a lock on my bedroom to keep the cats out of my perlite trays filled with leaves. (bad kitty, no that's not a litter box despite the similar texture!) I've found perlite moved all over with spoiled-rotten cats standing near by with that 'Not Me' look.
Here's Rosie, warming herself on my heating mat, just before i put the tray of leaves down.

Rosie is so cute! Is she a bob-tail? She looks like she's saying, "Yeah, take a pic of the heat mat, cuz this is the last time yer gonna see it lady!" ROTFL!!!

Lauri, if after all of that you've got 12 still going you're a great AV Mom!!

Before I started to garden, all I had outside was ivy that came over from the neighbor's. Twice every year I'd go out and get some and plant it in a pot w/ a twisted and shaped coat hanger in it...making a topiary. Each time they'd last long enough for me to leave the room or run to the store. I finally gave up after about 1/2 dozen tries.

We feed ours Dad's "Special Mix" now. They sleep all day...I think the special part of the mix is sedatives!

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

LOL at the *Special Mix* I may need a case or two....This is my old demon, Becky. She is sleeping on a pile of afghans by the Brug light, she just got squirted for slapping them. Her bed/box is in the lower right corner where she takes her baths then goes back on her perch to sleep...Lauri

lauri i drop my little cups all the time. i had to laugh a few days ago i was watering and my 4 yr. old kaylee was helping i told her not to drop them and i turned around and not five minutes later dropped one! she said ooohhhhh mama you made a mess! i had to laugh. then next day i had just potted up a new rattail cactus in a nice painted pot i loved and Breezy my cat ran in and i scooped her up and the catfood at the same time well... i hit the plant stand on my way out with her and my new pot and rattail cactus hit the floor! i had dirt everywhere and a broken pot as well as 4 large pieces of my rattail cactus broken! the kids woke up and said what happened i said don't even ask. i don't think we are bad a.v. moms just normal lol.

Too funny! My mom has 5 cats and had to move all house plants outside, the cats seem to want to play. As for me, between my grandson and I we have dumped more plants than I can count. I used to get upset, but really most of them survive and it was a nice reminder for me and a good lesson for my grandson, everybody makes messes and everybody has accidents, even grown-ups.

Roopville, GA(Zone 7b)

as for me i think i make more messes than my kids lol. yes it is good for kids to see i think. they know we are human too.

If I'm not dumping them Hubby is knocking them over. Precious never has :))

Funny stories! Becky is soooo cute! I love her nose...it looks like she just got into something!

I just bought treats for my kitties last week. The poor things haven't had treats in a while...just a bit of tuna or lunch meat here and there. The dogs get treats constantly. I felt bad, so I got kitty treats the other day. Well, oh my!! Our oldest kitty is driving me crazy now! Every time I walk in the kitchen he thinks it's treat time. Right now I spend a lot of time in the kitchen transplanting plants...he's decided to pester me for treats the whole time. LOL! Rubbing on my legs, talking to me, sleeping on my feet...the whole bit! Half of me feels bad for him, while the other half of me is tripping over him w/ every step I take. The other kitty doesn't even eat his...he just sniffs them and purrs.
