Just wanna make sure I've got my labels right :)
This one labled as H. glabra coming from Carol
ID help/confirmations on first time bloomers
Hmmmm define wonderful :)
It does smell very nice, though it is a carnation like fragrance and I thought that citrina has more of a citrus fragrance to it.
Milan
I always thought that glabra's had more of a purple flower? Could be wrong. I love the small leaf of the meridithii/vitellinoides.
Heather
congrats on your glabra bloom, I have a plant that is about 4 years old now and it hasn't even developed a peduncle. I love the plant but I would like a bloom too. Good growing. The flower on your H. meredithii is very different and pretty..
Heather I should have made an appointment with you last week since I was in Twin cities last Thursday :).
There are not many pictures of H. glabra flowers on the web so it's hard to compare.
The one on Eva-Karin Wiberg website is kinda purple but as we know color can vary greatly within a species.

I assume that her picture was taken shortly after the flowers opened since the lobes are not yet reflexed.
Better cut those nails Carol or I'll take you up on it after seeing the picture you posted :)
Milan,
Can you post pics of the leaves of the non-glabra?
Your second non-meredithii looks like an unknown sp. from Sabah, I believe. I had it and thought it was a clone of H. califtophylla which it isn't... Actually it could be some sort of a hybrid of finlaysonii x incrassata which are running around Europe under lots of different names....
Carol
Lotta, I got this one originally from Paul Shirley and he had it in his list as meredithii small leaf. I just checked but he doesn't have it listed anymore.
It might be that it is a cross as Carol pointed out. Doesn't matter, it has pretty leaves and flowers, what more does one want/need :)
Milan
I will find the email where David Liddle told me what it is...the non-meredithii....
Oh and let me add that the GPS 3576 has a rather odd fragrance which I'm not able to explain, how about you Lotta?
Yes, it's pretty. And a frequent bloomer too.
Would be nice to hear what it is, though.
Edit: I will have to get back regarding the fragance :) Will check when the new buds open up in a couple of days...

Here is what I received from D. Liddle:
"the correct name for this species is Hoya sp. Sarawak IPPS3425. I misled you in saying it was from Sabah. . It is sold in Europe as H. meredithii. "
There you go.
Thanks!
/Lotta
Kewl, thanks for the info Carol. Will correct the label right away.

Heather, are you sure it's not a Boston Terrorier? :)
I may have to go back to Minneapolis soon though my budget on this project is a little low and I'll only go if I have to.
Gladly would like to meet up with you if I go, gives me something other to do than visiting Mall of America (no Hoyas in there :)
Had someone else smell the sp. Sarawak flowers and he said it smelled like fish (but maybe tastes like chicken :)
Milan
EWWW.....yuk....that sounds like it doesn't smell very nice. How about the other one we have as H. meredithii? (the big leafed one)...does it smell the same? I have that one, but it has never bloomed. Now I am not sure I want it too...ha. It is right near my computer.
Marcy
Okay, next time you are in the Minneapolis area, I will need one of those archie's, then I won't sick the dogs on you, lol! She is 16 pounds of fury!! Frightening huh?
Heather
Thanks for the warning Heather, I'll only visit your place in full body armor and will not wear any "mailman like" clothing items :)
