I have seen this word, vintage, used when describing african violets and I don't know what it means.
I have also been wondering what the difference is between mini, semi mini, micro, trailer, etc. Is there a place where all of the terms are defined so that I can gain a better understand of the terminology?
I also saw somewhere not long ago a site that had black and white drawings of all of the leaf types and was wondeirng if anyone knows where that might be.
I've read a lot of the sticky's but have not found out what all the terms mean so I was hoping that someone could steer me in the right direction.
Thanks so much,
Jesse
What does vintage mean when referring to african violet?
Jesse all of this is in our sticky.
Vintage is a plant 20 or more years older.
Minature is a plant 3-6 inches at maturity
Semi-miniatures plants are 6-8 inches
Standards are 8- 14 inches
Large growing African violets are over 14 inches across.
>>>
Trailer which their have zillions of postings and info in sticky also about.
Trailers don't go my size like reg. Av's they are measured by leaf size. Exampls a minature African violet trailer will have small leaves but can be grown as large as the grower wants.
Leaf types pictures anything one can dream of learning is up in sticky. Just start at the top and go slow down you will find info and links for everything ~
Thanks Allison for clearing those few things up for me. I have been reading the info in the sticky but have not read all of it yet. And I kept seeing the word vintage used and tried to google it but it did not tell me what it was when referring to african violets. I will continue to read the sticky since I love learning as much about AVs as I can.
Jesse
