I went today to help out with the care of the plants for the May 6th sale (which is in conjuction with the North Plains all city garage sale). Goodness!
This is my first year of garden club membership, so my first plant sale. I must say there are many things to buy.
I did about 1/2 hour re-plants some really big shrubs and a big palm and then spent 4 HOURS watering the plants for the sale - and I didn't quite finish before I had to leave. I had to leave to come home and water all my new plantings for another couple of hours. I am about watered out!
If you are in the area on the 6th you might want to stop by. All the money goes to stock the new North Plains Library with gardening books.
Our sale is located about midway between Recycled Gardens and Ditchmill Herbs, so you can hit all three places in one trip, although I'd plan to make a day of it - there is lots to see, especially if you get caught up in the garage sale, too.
If you like roses, our sale has lots of them - Oregon Roses changed their business and donated many, many large roses to the club and they will be at the sale and wonderful prices. I already bought four and they are taking off in my garden. I have to tell you, though, we don't know variety only color of bloom, since that's the way they came to us.
There will also be annuals, perennials, bushes, trees, herbs, vegetables, fruit, Hosta, and quite a few planters of all different types with various plants already planted.
It was very impressed with both the number of plants and the variety, especially for a small town garden club.
North Plains is immediately north of the western most Hillsboro exit (Glencoe Road). If anyone wants the address of the home at which the sale is being held just post and I'll send another post with the address.
Happy spring.
North Plains Garden Club Plant Sale
I would love to know where this is being held. Please send or post the address and hours it'll be open. Thanks much.
The sale is 8-4 on Saturday at 11052 NW 309th, North Plains.
Hope some of you can make it.
onemorebite, welcome to D's Garden. Maybe we are neighbors as I too live in Vanc., WA. I went to mapquest and got directions to N.Plains. May drive there Sat. . . . .playing it by ear. mary
I just got home after helping set up the plants for the sale. Goodness! There are so many roses it looks like a rose nursery. There are wonderful container gardens, many with succulents. There are tomatoes, artichokes, herbs, peppers and so much more. There are shrubs, Acers and other ornamental trees, lilacs, hundreds of perennials, lilies, iris, groundcovers. What a productive group of gardeners and how generous with their time, talent and plants. People were coming by already trying to buy plants. The prices are amazing! Oh yes, and lots of Hosta.
Of course, I came home with the back of my vehicle full. Now I just need time to figure out where to put it all.
If you are in the area, come join us tomorrow from 8 to 4 at 11052 NW 309th Ave (the corner of North and 309th). All proceeds benefit the horticulture section of the new North Plains Library.
Say "hi" if you come by. I will be working there for several hours until I have to tear myself away to come home and bath the dogs for a show on Sunday.
Any I thought taking early retirement on a "farm" in Oregon would be restfull.

"Any I thought taking early retirement on a "farm" in Oregon would be restfull."
LOL, oh, sure. My husband's getting ready to "retire" and he already knows the score.
I'm going to drive out to the plant sale. Thank goodness for MapQuest. What'd we ever do before the Internet? Thanks so much for posting the address and hello Anastatia! Thanks for the welcome. We are indeed neighbors. I'm in Hazel Dell.

soldiersong, I was there around 11:30-12 noon. I asked if anyone in the group answered to "soldiersong" but no one knew the name/handle. I also walked among the pots murmmering under my breath, :"onemorebite, onemorebite" but no one responded to that either. I got $29 worth of plants including some roses for a savings of maybe $250. They assured me that if I came back next year and be there at 8AM the selection would be even better. So that I will do. mary
I was there all day and met some of the list people. My name is Roni and the folks in the club don't know internet names and such.
I'm glad you found plants to take home.
Thanks to all of you who came out. The library and our children in need programs will benefit from your visit.
We had loads of things at 8 AM and as soon as we opened we were swamped with buyers who, thankfully, kept us hopping all day.
The plants that are left went to a rose club in Hillsboro that is doing a garage and plant sale to help fund a rose garden that honors the people who worked so hard after 911. The garden will have all the roses named in honor of individual and groups associated with 911. I don't know the time and location, but will find out on Wednesday at our monthly meeting. I'll post it in case any of you want to go.

I was there around noon also, but didn't hear anyone murmuring "one more bite." LOL If I had, that would have been quite a surprise. I did mention I heard of the sale from Dave's Garden and was from Vancouver to the woman who was acting as cashier and she said someone else from Vancouver had just been through! We must have just missed one another.
I completely filled my car and spent only $80 total (plus one planter that was $20 by itself). Next year I'm gonna be waiting at 8 AM! It was great. I do have quite a bit of planting to do now though. ;-)
