Well, today DH laid down the law and said he needed more room in the shade house for his palms and I had to move the seedlings that were growing too tall for it. Since he originally built the Shade House for himself..and I commandeered half of it to grow out seedlings....what could I do? So...here is the progression: First, how my part of the Shade House looked. Some of Kyles were pushing up the cloth...10'+ tall...
Transplanting Brugs in a rain forest.
...and hauled them out to the road...about 250' of road leading to our driveway. No houses there...so I decided it was going to be the repository for So-So seedings and pruned branches. The truncks with balls of roots we just threw in the bush, making sure they had organic matter like leaves and stuff around them...they will root and grow and bloom like crazy. It rains nearly every night here...now.
The pruned parts...now this was work; with a digging bar, my 15 year old helper (moi? nonono..I don't do digging bars anymore) thrust the bar into the ground until he found at least 6-7" of space...into it went the trunk. Sometimes I prune off the leaves, sometimes not. In a couple/4 months, will post the continuing saga of transplanting in the rain forest.
PS this method works much better than digging holes and planting purposefully. Guess it is pretty obvious we don't have 'formal' gardens...LOL

Wow, Carol, I wish it were that easy to dig a hole here.
HA! The holes I dig are wide enough for a stem...like planting a cutting in a hole made by a pencil in a pot. The digging bar jams into a crevice and there it goes...for some reason the brugs take off... I love it!
Too cool Carol. I love it. You are so lucky! I can't wait to see all the blooms.
