Pics from Brent and Becky's

Newport News, VA(Zone 7b)

Hi, I'm fairly new to DG and new to the bulb forum as I've been hanging out in a couple of others so far. Despite the rain here yesterday, and a large pack of gardeners visiting, I managed a short drive to Brent and Becky's bulbs yesterday, and thought you all might be interested in some pics. Most were taken either in front of their shop, or out in their catalog garden. I'm sorry I don't know the varieties, it was raining out, and I didn't have time to write them down, but thought you would enjoy them anyway, and their catalog can help identify them.

I've been fond of bulbs for many years, and always manage to tuck in a few in the fall, especially. I'm expanding my choices for summer and fall bulbs now.

Regards,
Laura

Hope you enjoyed them. I feel very lucky to live near enough to drive up.

Very nice. I've been getting bulbs from them for quite a few years and have always been satisfied.
Incidently, the purple bells in the 4th pic are Fritillaria persica, featured herewith:

Hi Laura, thanks so much for sharing your visit with us. I love the first photo. I've ordered from B&B's and have always been happy with what I got. How nice to be able to visit their place.

Thank you, I appreciate the identification. It was a real zoo when I arrived at the same time as a bus. There was a gardening tour in town Saturday. It was so much so that I have to place an order on line and go back and pick it up, or have it mailed. I may be able to add more pics later if I do, though the tulips will likely be past their prime in another week.

I was very tempted to purchase some of their display buckets at around $10 or less, which seemed to have a packet each of daffodils and tulips planted in them and were fading. All you would have to do is take them home and pop them in the ground. I did leave with a handful of bulbs and a second one of their stainless steel trowels with the red handle. They are the best!

Laura - thanks for posting! What a treat to see. Brent and Becky's Bulbs had a large display at the New England Flower Show this past spring. Got me to go look at their web site and think aobut putting in an order this fall.

What fun to share your day at Brent and Becky's! Thanks for posting.

I bet those orange tulips in the first pic are 'Princes Irene', I bought mine from B&B and they look alike.

I always order from B & B. Nothing like some bulbs blooming to brighten up early spring days!

Thanks for the ID on the first pic, the colors were amazing, I'll be looking for those and a couple of others this fall myself!
