So the alsobia cygnet you sent me is doing great. Where the flower bud was, there is a seed pod forming. Usually I would clip off any seed pod so the plant doesn't waste it's energy producing seed. Alsobia the same, huh? Thought I might as well ask before I get out my scissors :))
Just FYI...Lillian Sparkler has flower buds (I know I already told you but I'm excited!), B-Man's Cosimo (sp?) and Von's friend have suckers starting, and Rob's Slap Happy (so showy and cool) is starting a sucker, too!! Very wonderful. I found an old aquarium at the thrift store and made a terrarium. I put three small AV and a couple of other things in there to try it out. Kept the AV's in their pots so I can pull them out at the first sign of trouble....
Okay, that was a lot of verbage for a simple question!!! ~lol~
TIA Allison :)
Allison, an Alsobia Cygnet question :)
alsobia cygnet hmm I know most people keep the seed pods on here in the forum for the fun and enjoyment to be able to grow by seeds. Seeds are not always easy to get and you can always share them.
Up in our second sticky is a thread on how to train your Alsobia Cygnet :))
I have not had time with so many to water and transplant I have an Alsobis with like 50 babies I need to take off poor Mom.Yikes
Your other plants are doing great ! I can't wait tto see your Lillian Sparkler bloom ! I grew them by leaf so have not see this yet !

Okay, Allison :) I read through the linked thread...really helpful. I don't need seeds yet...wanna go for the FLOWER!! Thanks so much for the info. Will post pictures the minute I get a bloom on any of them...

Oh PS Jacki the buds forming sometimes can look like seed pods on this type of plant ~
I was thinking a seed pod is not going to form if there has never been a flower on a baby plant ?
This plants buds form different , hope you did not take it off.
Well, thank god for laziness~lol~ I didn't cut it yet...I'll just let things alone until I can see if it's a bud or seed pod. I am so glad I asked :))
I'll let you know what it does, Allison...thanks!
Jacki
Good I'm glad I started to think and wow that's a bud forming !
I also have a question, Allison. The Cygnet you sent me has rooted, but the to main leaves have died. Do I pinch off the end of the stolen and root that little guy? And will the pinching cause new leaves to grow from the main stem?
I think that is what I read from the stickey.

The leaves died ? Now I have not had this happen only one here and there beacause it was old. Does it have any leaves at all ?
Yes take the baby off and grow a plant !
They like it hot and humid lots of light ..hmmm maybe it got too wet ? Now you say main leaves does this mean it has some ? If so it should be fine and will grow.
Let me know I can always replace it.
I need to work on one plant I have and trans-plant Mom and she has like 50 babies hanging on to her. I just have so much watering and trans-planting babies, and then trans-planting growing babies, suckers, packagain. lol All the Joy ! I have not had the chance to take her babies off. I always take them off a few at a time and wow these babies grew so fast. Then where the heck an I going to put them all while growing . Baby Cygnets everywhere :))
The leaves at the base of the plant died. The is one long stolem with three plants on it. I pinched two of the plants off and planted them leaving one on the main plant. My question is Will new leaves come from the base of the main stem?
HHHmm they should I never did that before. These plants grow so vigerous . What happens is you have the one plant in the middle and new plants ( Like on trailers) keep growing from the middle plant making the plant full and bushy. If you keep taking the babies off new plants in the pot will keep forming. You can put babies even into the pot with Mom plant if you like.
You keep doing this until you have a big full plant.
When an Alsobia Cygnet flowers two open at a time. so the more branches of plants in the pot the more flowers you will have. When the pot what ever size you want I have grown them to nice full 12 inch pots. Then I start letting it keep her babies which will grow into plants hanging down the sides. These will also bloom !
I have never pinched any parts off as this plants nature is to grow reproduce and trail non-stop no bounderies !
When I first bought my cygnet it was a tiny little wiring thing. Nothing to lok at. Not in great condition in a little solo cup.
Before long I had about a 1/4 inch piece of plant and I nursed and nursed it for a long time it did nothing then bam it started to grow. I think it was my love and VF-11 . This was a couple years ago. I nursed it to this.

Oh the plant above is in a 2.25 pot. All my plants I grew and shared from in the past two years came from the plant above :)) I know I have shared at least a 100 plants easy :)) Pretty amazing !
I grew many babies into full 6 inch pots, many pan pots over flowing. And this 12 inch pot was stuff full .
Hubby rigged up a lamp to go right over it. I kept it like this for about year and half then potted it down to a few 6 inch pots.
The babies just keep coming !
She has been and is the most amazing plant I have grown and growing ! She never stops giving !
How is everyone's alsobia cygnet doing !
Mine is going through a growing streak...sending out babies everywhichway... The more I grow this plant, the more I like it.
Wonderful ! So cool. If you root the babies you will have more plants and then the Mom will branch out more and bloom more often ! It loves food and to be more moist but sounds like you know exactly what yours loves !
Hey, Allison. Mine is still growing and happy. Haven't had a bloom yet, but the plant looks healthy.
Nanna
Nanna your back Yeah ! Yippi :)) Have you fed it ? It likes to eat and little more moist but sounds like it is growing Happy so you will have flowers soon !
