Does any one know if someone by mistake weed eats an elephant ear will it come back out? Some friends did my son's yard for them FrThursday and they let their child weed eat. He went thru the flower bed and took out the elephant ear, hosta and gourds.
I brought the original elephant ear from Alabama when I moved in 1971. Mine got had earlier this year by a guy hubby hired last month to clean weeds out of my flower bed. The guy took everything out .GRRRRRR. Including my small baby lilies-can't remember name of them right now. But hubby got 3 demerits.Hubby is lucky his clothes are still in the house.

The elephant ear will come back out. I've accidentally broken the ears when moving them and they always put out a new leaf.
Cala is right. The first leaf might be mishapen or have some damage if it was on the way up. After that leaf goes, you should get plenty more nice looking ones.
Funny story I saw on another website a few years ago- a lady had pointed outside and asked hubby to till up a bed for her. Well she either didn't indicate it well or he was only half listening. Instead of tilling up the *new* space, he tilled up her hosta bed. As a result she had thousands of tiny hosta that year. LOL She said she would not recommend that method, but if you need a lot of hosta....LOL
Folks this cut down the whole leaf to the ground.
