don't know where to ask this so here it goes.

Does anyone know where I can purchase over the top weed and grass killer. You can safely spray over your flowers to kill weeds and grass without killing the flowers and other plants. I have looked everywhere with no luck

Thanks,

I think you are going to have to pull the weeds & grass. There's no way to tell a "weed killer" which plant
is a weed and which is not. There are types that distinguish grasses from broad leaf plants but that's
about as specific as I've seen.

I agree with Tam.

Interesting, the rumor mill buzz is that Monsanto (the maker of Roundup) has been acquiring all of these seed companies lately in order to engineer Roundup Ready vegetable seeds for the consumer. This scenario (not supported in a quick Google search by yours truly) would give you, Minihostalover, an "over the top" herbicide which could at least be used in areas where said seeds are grown.

edited out my comment. Decided best not to post any "political" comments...

This site had the most information. http://www.arhomeandgarden.org/disease_insects/Consumer_Herbicides.htm
This one offers a where to buy link but I didn't see the exact product. http://www.montereylawngarden.com/locations/

Badseed's link is helpful...I didn't know there was a product called "Over the top."

Fusilade is, as Tam mentioned, grass-specific, though, and it won't kill sedge or broadleaf weeds.

Remarkable restraint, Tam. ;-)

Grrrrr .. every time I see the company that will not be named in print I bristle and growl.

Anyway ..

Cindy, I have had good success getting rid of weeds by covering the offenders next to the plants with wet newspaper and securing it with wooden skewers. I even sometimes paint weed killer on weeds next to plants with a paintbrush if I know it won't rain for 24 hours.

I did find a brand Ornamec Over-The-Top grass herbicide that you can purchase from
A. M. Leonard but it is $45.49 for a quart. The brand name Ferti-lome Over the top is only $18.95 a pint. I can't seem to find the fertilome brand anywhere to see the percentage difference is if any at all. I just happened to see on a web site that, that is what they charged but couldn't click on anything that would put it in a shopping cart.

I have about 7000 hard wood trees that we need to spray for weed control. I just thought that the over the top weed and grass killer would do good in my flower beds. You can use this stuff and if you spray the plant it wont kill it. It is great stuff.

I guess I will buy the Ornamec over the top.

Great info badseed, thanks.

Ferti-lome has a dealer search feature, based on your location. Perhaps it will be of some help. http://www.fertilome.com/dealerLocator_main.asp

You can also try google for Fluazifop-p-butyl thats the chemical name. Sounds good...
