Katy,

He IS adorable. I found one in my new pond for one day, then he was gone. Maybe he will come back later.

What are all the silver balls in the pond? It looks like an interesting idea. I do not have enough shade on my water surface so I have to use styrafoam floats. Trying to get 50% shade on the water surface to cut back on algae growth. Floating balls might be novel.

MollyMc, They are plastic Christmas tree balls I got from the $ stores. They were on sale 2 boxes for $1.00 for the after Christmas sales. I had to plug the tops with little squares of cut of baggies... just pulled off the tops then put back over the plastic. They haven't sunk all winter. Love 'em! I'll take them out as my plants grow, then back in next fall. Used styrofoam first but it didn't look very good.

I've been seeing a couple of little green and yellow peepers hanging out around my nanners. Last night I had a little yellow peeper with a green butt sitting on the stoop by my kitchen door. He was soooo CUTE! I wanted to catch him and play with him. LOL!

Katy, what kind is he? I have some tadpoles in the pond, but I put the eggs there myself. I'm hoping they are toads.

He appears to be a Leapord frog, he has the white line on his upper lip if you look closely. I googled and that looked like the closest photo. I haven't heard and "singing" yet.

You should see the amount of frogs, toads, crawdads and baby versions of all of the above that I have here! LOL I need to do some work where a big puddle is that is full of them. I told hubby I am thinking of putting all the tadpoles in my pond. Do you think it would hurt anything? Chances are the fish would eat most of them... Most of them don't have legs yet and some have really tiny back legs. I am NOT putting the crayfish in the pond! I need to dig out and till up part of the puddle to build my bog and all those tads are in my way.

I put my frog eggs in one of those basket water lily planters from Walmart or Home Depot and stuck it in the pond in the shallow water. Then I put a bunch of water lettuce in it and they are all very happy, and safe, in there. I checked them the other day and somehow a young fish from last year had found its way into the pot. I really do not know how he did it since the edge of the pot is above the water. But he had to go, because they will eat the tadpoles.
Anyway, that's how I'm keeping mine safe.
My fish are out of control with their spawning. I tell you it's been a group thing in my pond ever since the sun came out. I've decided to get rid of 4 of the large comets I have, all of whom appear to be males and are driving my lovely white shubunkin to distraction. I have them in a net in the pond and anyone who wants them can have them. Beautiful fish, lovely fins, but a bit too active in the pursuit of their pleasure for me. I've got fisheggs all over the pond.
Katy, want some fish? or know anyone who does? I'm going to freecycle them, but I want to ask here first.

Thanks Melissa, but no thanks! Mine came through the winter in good shape and I'm hoping they don't spawn because at more than a dozen I think my pond is at capacity. I don't know anyone else with a pond around here. I don't see any frog eggs, and there's still only the one frog. I still need to clean the pump and I suppose it's warmed up enough to slosh around in. Somehow, I can't seem to generate any enthusiasm though. LOL

What you need is a brand new pair of waders!!!

No, that's not the problem. Mine is above ground, no way could I climb into it. I have to lean over and get wet to the shoulders. Ugh!
