Help with peach and nectarine trees

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 7b)

Every year our peach tree sets lots of fruit but ruin before they are ripe. It looks like something stings them because they have tiny little holes and when we cut them open they have maggot looking things inside :( Is there something we should get to spray the tree? What would be the best thing to do?

Thanks for any help.

Bonide makes a general purpose fruit tree spray that used on a regular basis, will give fairly good results....sold at garden centers.
If your peaches are inclined to get brown rot at harvest time, you need to have thinned the fruit and branches to let more air ciculation through the tree...and [ugh] clean up all dropped fruit.

Some people are expirmenting with bagging fruit...like nylon footies tied around each fruit when very small.

Thank you I will go get some this weekend. That is the only problem we have been having so far. We do keep it thinned so not to have problems.

Venessa, I use the Fruit Tree spray from Bonide that Indy suggests.
Works great. It's a concentrate that you mix up in a pump sprayer.
Follow the instructions exactly.

Thanks Andy, I'm glad to hear that there is something that works on this nasty problem. I wrote the name down so that I won't forget :O) There is nothing like cutting into a sweet smelling peach to see wigglers :(

Is "BONIDE" the manufacture name?? Or the name of the insecticide. Does anyone know if it comes in a hose end kinda sprayer??

Bonide is one brand name for home orchard spray. There are several brands on the market. Most popular in the nurseries here is a brand called Fertilhome. All of them have about the same formulation. They typically come as a powder or liquid concentrate. The liquid is useful in that it can be used in an adjustable mix hose end sprayer. Have to use a tank or trombone sprayer for the powder. It is an insecticide fungicide mix that is reasonably effective for most problems.
