What's blooming in my pond

The first to bloom was one of my LA Iris. Such a pretty purple.

Next is the white fountain grass. I love the soft flowing blooms of this grass.

The soft rush is blooming too.

And yesterday, my hardy lily bloomed. It closed back up before I had time to get a picture and today, it's opened back up again.

The only water lilies I have had before were tropical. Anyone? Do the leaves ever get bigger on this hardy?

Sunny,

Those are lovely. I have some black gamecock iris too. I just haven't located it yet. I had a bunch of iris planted over my drain field until last night. I moved them over by the pond and hope to see more growth now.

We'll find that iris yet.

Molly do you know the name of the Iris in your pic? I love the color.

Sunny,

It has no hybrid name. The water garden lady just calls them Hardy 'yellow'

She does have some named hybrid tropicals and I am thinking about getting one of those, if this hardy doesn't grow some bigger leaves.

My pond is about 32 inches deep. Would a tropical lily survive in here if the air temp got down to 17?

Molly, glad to see the first water lily bloom! Looks wonderful. How are the fish?

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Fish are still kind of in murkyville. We put another piece of styrofoam in the pond and put that lizard statue on it. Wanted to make a little more shade on the water to overcome the algae.

Still working on it.
