Cuttings or dividing?

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 9a)

I am going to share my epiphyllum strictum with other DGers at a RU next week. I have heard they like to be potbound, and mine certainly is. It bloomed very well last year. So do I take it out of the pot and divide it up that way, or do I take cuttings from the leaves? Is there any rule of thumb about needing old growth for the flowers to bud? And how long should a cutting be? Ooooh - lots of questions. I want to share; but I don't want to lose my blooms this year, if possible.

I am no expert, But...

If mine are Really root bound and need to be repotted I would divide. This time of year you will probably sacrifice blooms by sharing. Not Fair. :~(

Cuttings are the same way. I have shared lots of cuttings and plants but wait until after they bloom. My cuttings are usually about 6" to 8" long.

Thank you so much for your help. I was really beginning to worry. Durn! It looks like either way I lose. Oh, well, someone else wins. Not all bad! :-D
