I had so much last year that I took a bunch of it to plant swaps. But this year I got worried that what I had left didn't over winter. But then up it comes.....it's back!!!

Beautiful photo! Awesome plant!

It can be a weed if not contained. I've used Roundup on it but it always comes back.

You evidentally don't have fish in that area? I took a bunch of it to a swap last year and they were thrilled to get it. It did away with my excess too.

No, mine came up around the property (I didn't buy them) so they grow in water containers and in the ground. It's the ones in the ground that were just popping up all around the place. Kind of reminds me of houttuynia cordata (the chameleon plant). Widely acclaimed but what a weed! Definitely keep this one contained.

I still have some lizard tail in a big barrel with Japanese iris. Don't get me wrong, they are a nice addition but do keep them contained!

I guess I assumed it was in water since this is the water garden forum. Glad to know it does well in the ground. One of the people that got some was going to try it in a garden bed.

I grow mine in my bog gardens, so of course they are contained.

Does anyone else have the Chinese Lizard's Tail? It gets a white leaf before the bloom. Here is a pic of mine.
