Feeding seedlings

I have a few seedlings coming along nicely and was wondering when I should start feeding them and with what? This is the first time for me from seed. Some are tropical and I am hoping some are hardy for me. Does that make a difference as to feeding them? I am hoping to learn a lot here!!
