News about seeds and A Sharing Story

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

I think I planted Fantasy Teacup Seeds the first of March. I was looking at them today and I can barely see the tiny little seed leaves...but they are finally here! Yippee!! Some day there will be 'homegrown' leaves to share :)

I gotta tell a story also...there is a little girl in our neighborhood, Sapphire, who often comes down to visit me when I am outside working. She asks me about the plants and she is just a dear. Well today is her 8th birthday and I was ready for her when she was walking home from school. She saw me and said, "My birthday is here!" I told her, "Well, I just happen to have a little present for you" and gave her an AV (a noid but pretty) that was in bloom. You should have seed her face light up!!! She took it from me ever so gently and whispered thank you. It just touched my heart.

This isn't the best of neighborhoods...lots of low income folks (like us!) and lots of renters passing through. Sapphire says she moves a lot...and it just felt so good to give her a little bit of her own dirt with something beautiful growing in it...

Allison, now I know what you mean about how the sharing just makes everything else better!!!

Oh Jacki your so sweet. Thank's for sharing your story. Melted my heart and made my day ! The little girl will never forget getting her first African violet from you !
Congratulations ! on your Fantasy Teacup babies ! Yippee :)) Their the type I adore ! I can't wait to see them growing up and blooming. My understanding you get flowers faster when progating by seeds !
This is so exciting !

Thanks guys :) But it was all of you here that taught me what it means to share our bounty so freely! I can't wait until my leaves have babies and I'll have even more to share.

Thank you all for YOUR gifts :))

That is so sweet!!
I agree w/Allison, Sapphire will *never* forget that!
(What a pretty name, too!)

Hopefully her family will 'stay put' for a while, and you can really be her AV/plant 'Mentor'!

What a sweet & touching story!
