where 2 buy posts/wire gage needed to support a grape vine?

Brooklyn, NY

Anyone know of an internet site where I can buy the posts and wire gage needed to support a grape vine?

Try a Google for fence posts.

gg, for the wire, try a good hardware store.
Stainless steel cable listed as supporting 100 pounds should do it. Should cost about 60 - 80 cents per foot.
Don't forget to buy clamps.

what type of clamps and what are the clamps for?

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

gg, You can not tie the wire, it's too stiff you need the clamps.
Ask the hardware guy/gal.
I got mine from ACE Hardware.

If you want to get the same gear the pros are using, go to Orchard Valley Supply on the web. They are also a very good company to deal with in my experience. They sell posts but I would recommend buying the posts locally and the wire and connectors and other things from them. I built a dozen nice trellises with their trellies supplies, and also use them for grafting supplies and tying supplies -- they are the best I have found in those two categories.

I use the metal 6' tee post available at Home Depot or Lowes.
Space every 5 feet. For the wire...forget wire.Use 20 ft lengths of concrete reinforcing bar wired to the post. The rebar is stiff enough to support the vines and grapes and will outlast all of us.Oh,and best of all,the whole setup is cheap, cheap cheap.

Thanks for the responses.

We use steele T posts and American fencing for our Concords. We also put concrete blocks under the fencing every 5' - 10' to keep the fencing up off the ground so we can weedeat under it easily.
