Half my potted Mints croaked (winter kill) :(

Cedar Springs, MI(Zone 5b)

Lesson learned...don't leaved potted Mints outside (zone 5) during the winter.
I think I lost more than 50% of the potted Mints that I left outside for the winter.
The one I put in an unheated/unattached garage did fine.
I've also lost some potted Thyme when over wintering outside too.

I'm sorry!

I'm a zone warmer, and we had a mild winter... I put my potted mints & some other herbs against the south-facing foundation wall and shoveled a pile of mulch around the pots. I dug them out a couple of weeks ago, and they're all putting on new growth. I've up-potted them now, and hopefully I'll be able to share them later in the year.

I can share Chocolate Peppermint & 'Kentucky Colonel' Spearmint with you now, if you'd like either of those... Dmail me! :-)

Critter thanks for the offer!
I have some Mints ordered.
Just shaing my experience. :)

Cottage-Rose,

I hate to admit it...but misery does love company.

I did the same thing with my mints and lost all of mine.

Well live and learn, I guess. :)
