Trying to find a source for inexpensive plastic liners

Columbia, MO(Zone 5b)

I had a bulldozer come in a couple of years ago and bulldoze a nice place for a water lily pondand I lined it with a couple of layers of plastic sheeting like they sell in wal-mart (I now know why you should do it right the first time - what a mess!) What is the cheapest place to purchase a fairly large liner?

Pickens, SC(Zone 7a)

since you know what a mess it is to redo... buy the best liner you can afford..

It killed me to pay alot for my liner but hopefully it will last a very long time.

pondliner.com

or webbs water gardens had the best prices for me.

I agree, when I started my ponds, I got cheaper liners because I couldn't afford the good stuff, well now they all need replacing. Go as good as you can, it is too hard to do it all over again.

A 45 mil thick is what you need to insure it lasting. You can also put old blankets, old carpet etc. under the liner to cushion it if you don't want to buy the felt underlayment that is suggested. This is a must in rocky or dry areas. I think the liner is one of the least costly elements of a pond. It is usually sold here at the rock or landscaping places.

I bought mine here: http://www.harrisonsponds.com/catalog/liner/45milliner.shtml
I had it within two days and it is worth it to get the underlayment and liner for one price.

Thank you Charlotteda and Badseed. I have checked Harrison Ponds and they have liner on clearance. I have not had a chance to check pondliner or webbs yet. Shiela, I definately need the underayment as the place where it was made is full of tree roots and stuff! I so appreciate that so many people are willing to jump in and help. :)

When we built our ponds, I went to a local carpet shop and asked if they had any old carpeting I could have. They had plenty from ripping out old to install new and told me to help myself.

I have used old carpet too and it is very effective. If you don't have a source for it though, the price on the site I listed is very reasonable when you get both. Their customer service is very good and shipping was really quick.
