I have had the Joy of growing couple dozen different named African violet Wasp plants by leaf !
This is a pretty Wasp plant by Dates. It's name is Spootnik
Looking back is was the first set of Wasp leaves I was givien in a trade.
I had no idea their worth or why the foliage was bustled. Almost looked like if you put the leaves together you had a crown. Someone had send me a crown and it broke lol

Glad you like it. Not many on there but a tiny bit to start your thirst. Everyone should have atleast one !
There are about 50 wasp plants in FC ( sure I put some there)
And many others not in FC. Most are not easy nor cheap to get. Most are Vintage !

I'd love this one ; Pink Cherub (J. Dates) Semidouble bright pink wasp. Dark green, spooned, serrated/red back. Miniature
But I have never seen it for sale anywhere .

Missouri City, TX(Zone 9a)

No I haven't either; however, I did read on AVSA where people have contacted them and asked if they knew of a source for this or that AV and they apparently have lists of people who are growing rare or vintage AVs!

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Yes good idea they have been doing this for years.I sure tyr that ! In an old one 1984 I think has Dates name and address he had told the girl Ok to post and people could write to him ! I'm not sure if he is even alive. He sure hybridized many outstanding Wasp plants. He was and is the King of the best wasp plants !

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

Is it a given that if the plant has bustled foliage, it will have wasp flowers and vise versa?

or can an AV have one without the other?

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

I have only seen bustled foliage on wasp plants . Not all leaves on a Wasp plant will bustle / Most I've seen are variable.

Another bustled leaf on Royal Wasp
Dates use a strain that produce Bustled foliage. So did David Senk.
Other hybridizers like the one of the plant; Fay's Paisley (F. Wagman) Single blue wasp/red fantasy. Plain. Semiminiature
Did Not ~ No bustles in these plant's foliage yt wasp flowers.

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

Okay, I'll bite and ask the question, What is a WASP african violet? I tried finding an answer to my question online and I could not find and answer. So what is a WASP AV?

Type of plant with Wasp flowers. Some have Bustled foliage some don't
"Wasp" refers to single blossoms that have separate, very narrow, petal lobes.
Here is a link showing all flower and leaf types.
